Introduction

Starting a new project is exciting. From the big dreams of what might come out of it to picking a name and setting up fresh accounts in your favorite tools. I’ve done it before, and I’m doing it again. Let’s dive in.

Past projects

I’ve been chasing my personal entrepreneurial ambitions of building a profitable side-project for about three years now. My first product was a content management system for Firebase databases. The second an online platform for finding online learning content. Neither was particularly successful and, each at its time, after losing interest and not working on them anymore, I figured best to shut them down.

After a relaxing summer and with some dark autumn and winter months ahead, it’s time for the next project.

A different approach

This time around, I want to take a bit of a different approach, though, and this very blog will lie at its core. While my ambition is to end up with a profitable SaaS product, I will not dive straight into building an MVP and after try figuring (or not) how to market and sell the product. Instead, I want to use this blog to dive into different topics, experiment with product ideas and see what resonates with readers. We’ll see where we go from here, it’s all about the journey, right?

The topic of this blog

So, I’m starting a blog that will hopefully spark some interesting product ideas. To get started with that, I want to mark a certain higher-level domain, which will also be broad topic of this blog.

As some might deduce from the name, Endpointflow, that broad topic will be API’s, the kind that gets used on the internet between client and server, to be more precise. So why API’s?

I’ve been interested in API’s for long time. Back in university, I wrote my master thesis about model-driven-development of RESTful API’s and also professionally, as a product manager, I’ve acquired quite a bit of experience working with API’s. I’ve evaluated API’s of 3rd party providers, as well as designed and product-managed B2B API products myself. Furthermore, I’ve also worked closely with the IT teams of clients of those API’s to help them build integrations.

Given that API’s have become one of my specializations over the last couple of years, and I’m still super interested in learning more, I believe they make for an excellent blog topic (and product exploration area).

What’s next?

We’ll see, however, I have a couple of idea’s already f.e.:

  • Interview people who have fulfilled different roles in building B2B API’s
  • Analyze API’s of different companies
  • Tutorials to explore some new technologies
  • Etc.

Definitely let me know if you have anything in particular you want me to explore!

Cheers,

Nick
